A lot of people will roll their eyes at the people taking a million photos and selfies with their phone camera at tourist destinations. A lot of photographers would scoff at the suggestion that these photos could be any level of technically good.
I think we shouldn’t underestimate the power of good lighting and 12-megapixels. (For perspective, my Canon 7D sports 18-megapixels, my Nikon D7200 has 24.2). Our phones can also provide a unique perspective to travel photos that make them feel more candid. Their smaller, more lightweight, and easier to protect in the rain. In the case of my Samsung S7, they are waterproof, so I was able to take it to parts of Niagara Falls I wouldn’t have dared to bring my unprotected Canon 7D.
All photos shot with a Samsung Galaxy S7 and edited in Adobe Photoshop.
