Hailing from one of the coldest places on earth, Dead Ranch is not only sludge metal madness that can’t be ignored, they are some of my oldest friends. I’ve seen them perform countless times in basements and bars, and I recently caught another great set at the Zoo, which will probably end up being the last time I shoot there as it has apparently closed it’s doors. I’ve never been a fan of the stage lighting at the zoo, and I thought about the thousands of photos I’ve shot of the boys over the years and decided to be a bit experimental. I was hoping to capture the music in a different way. I wanted to capture the raw, orchestrated chaos of it all and it felt like throwing away the photography rule book was going to be necessary.
