Shooting live music was one of my first photography loves. I started out with local bands, usually a friends band in tiny dark punk bars here in Winnipeg. As I delved more into model and nature photography I fell away a bit from music, but I take advantage of very chance I get.

I first saw Larry and his flash by chance while I was living in Calgary. My boyfriend and I went down to the Ship and Anchor pub to cat the Madcowboys, a punk band out of Alberta. LAHF went on first and basically stole the show. I bought some vinyl and downloaded everything I could find. When I moved back to Winnipeg I told all my friend about the cool new band I had found and anxiously awaited for them to tour through Winnipeg.

I finally got my wish in 2012. I gathered my friends and my camera and headed down to the Pyramid Cabaret for what we knew would be an awesome night. The place was packed and everyone was on their feet and dancing.
This past October they came through Winnipeg again, and at the Pyramid Cabaret again. Double win, one of my favourite bands and one of my favourite venues. The pyramids light set up has definitely been the most versatile out of all the smaller venues I’ve shot at. The crowd was a bit smaller this time around, it being a Tuesday night, but the same level of energy was in the air.

As I was posting sneak peeks, the band themselves shard one of the photos to their page!

I was very excited, to say the least. They are all done touring for now but I’m sure they will be back at it in a years time so if you live in North America keep a watch out because they may be coming to your town and it’s a show you can not miss!
